Since July 2010, I have a PhD in Psychology from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). While doing the Doctoral Thesis I enjoyed predoctoral research grants (Xunta de Galicia, period 2005-2007) and research contracts (Xunta de Galicia: Program 'María Barbeito', December 2007-June 2010). In addition, I made a predoctoral stay, also granted a scholarship by the Xunta de Galicia, in the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Salamanca (November 2009-February 2010). After presenting the Doctoral Thesis I enjoyed a research grant from the Deputación Provincial de A Coruña (September 2010-2011).

Over the last few years I have been the author and co-author of several articles (national and international) and book chapters. In addition, I have participated as a speaker in several Congresses, both national and international.

From October 2012 to February 2014 I was working as an associate professor at the International University of La Rioja (UNIR), combining my work as a teacher with work in my own Psychology Cabinet 'Emma Mayo Psicóloga', which was opened in September of 2011.

At the present time (since November 2016) I combine my work as a psychologist in my office with my work as an associate professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC).

In June 2010 I finished my predoctoral contract at the University of Santiago de Compostela and went to unemployment. In February 2011 I managed to make a 20-day substitution in this University for a maternity leave, but then I went back to unemployment. I sent many CVs but they did not call me for any job interview; so in May 2011 I started thinking about the possibility of self-employment.

In this way, it could be said that the difficulties to find work for others were the main reason to create my own company.

As in everything in live, satarting my business had its pportunities and threats: the opportunities offered by self-employment were, mainly, being my own boss and being able to do things as one wants / believes they should be done; in the other hand, he threats or inconveniences that I had to face are: not having vacations, suffer certain economic difficulties before a sick leave, etc. In general, it increases the probability of suffering some economic instability if things are not going well.

I am a person with ease to learn and apply new knowledge. I am a good mediator, I can listen to people and I can transmit information with ease. These skills are basic in the daily development of my work; but if I have to stay with one of my skills this is the persistent being, being a fighter, who does not give up.

To any woman, with and without disability, and anyone, I would say the same thing: pursue their dreams.
